How To Root Any Xiaomi Device Using This Simple Guide

Xiaomi, is one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world, with millions of loyal fans and users. Xiaomi devices are known for their affordable prices and user-friendly software. However, some users want to root their Xiaomi devices to unlock more features and customization options.

Rooting is the process of achieving full access to the system files and settings of your device, which allows you to modify them as you wish. Rooting can also enable you to install custom ROMs, kernels, mods, and apps that require root permissions.

In this article, I will show you how to root any Xiaomi device in 2024 using Magisk. Magisk was developed by Topjohnwu, and it is one of the best and safest ways to root your Xiaomi device.

Steps to Root Any Xiaomi Device Using Magisk

The first step is to unlock the bootloader. Xiaomi has tightened the security of its smartphones by locking the bootloader, which prevents people from flashing custom ROM, which is required to root Xiaomi devices.

So, to unlock the bootloader follow the steps below.

Step 1: Unlock The Bootloader

1. First of all, you need to download the unlock tool given below, extract it, and install it on your PC.

2. Now, go to settings> my devices > all specs > tap on MIUI version 7 times and you will get the developer options in additional settings.

3. Now go to the developer option and enable USB debugging.

4. Now in the developer options, click on “Mi unlock status” and click on add account and device.

5. Then try to bind your account. In case your account does not bind click again and again on add account and devices. You will successfully get a message like this.

6. After that reboot your device in fastboot, for this simply turn off your device and press the Power button and Volume Down (-) button together. Then connect the device to a Windows PC/Laptop via a Micro USB cable or Type C cable.

7. Now launch the mi unlock tool on your PC.

8. Then, login with your mi account and it will check if your account has permission

9. After that click on the “unlock now” button.

That’s it. You have successfully unlocked the bootloader.

STEP 2: Flash Custom TWRP Recovery

Now that the bootloader is unlocked, it’s time to flash a custom TWRP recovery room to your Xiaomi devices. You will need to download the TWRP file for your particular Xiaomi devices, use the link below to find it.

STEP 3: Root Your Xiaomi Device

After successfully installing the TWRP file on your Xiaomi device, it’s time to root. Follow the below steps to do it.

1. First of all, download the Magisk Zip file on your device from below.

2. After downloading the file, make sure to save it on your device.

3. Now reboot your device into TWRP recovery. Power off your device and Press and hold the “Volume down button + Power button” until you see the TWRP logo on the screen.

4. In TWRP, tap on Install and go to the Magisk zip file that you downloaded earlier. Select it and swipe to confirm the installation.

5. Once the installation is done, tap on Reboot System to restart your Xiaomi device.

6. After your device boots up, go to the app drawer and launch the Magisk App that you installed earlier. You should see a green check mark next to Magisk, indicating that your device is successfully rooted.
