WhatsApp, known for its iconic green chat theme, is about to get a major visual upgrade that will allow you to customize your chat experience. After more than a decade of sticking with its iconic theme, the popular messaging app is working on adding a new chat theme feature.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp Beta version 2.24.20.12 on Android has started showing the new chat theme options. This feature will allow you to personalize your chats by choosing from a range of pre-set themes that change the appearance of the chat bubbles and background wallpaper.
At launch, there will be 12 themes available, but more could be added in future updates. You will also be able to mix and match colours or even set a custom wallpaper for a truly personalized look.
Another feature of this update is the option to switch between light and dark themes. Before applying a theme, you can preview how it will look in both light and dark modes. It will also allow you to adjust the intensity of the dark mode to your liking.
The new chat themes can be applied to individual chats, giving each conversation a unique vibe. However, it’s important to note that your chosen theme will not affect the appearance of the chat on the other person’s end.
While the chat themes feature is still in the testing phase, it is currently available only to a selected group of users enrolled in the WhatsApp Beta program on Android. The company hasn’t announced an official release date yet, but it’s expected that the feature could be rolled out to all users by the end of the year.
If you’re eager to try out these new themes before they go live, you can join the WhatsApp Beta program via the Google Play Store.
