Windows 11 Redesigns About Page for Easy Access to Hardware Specs

In Short
  • Microsoft is testing a new card-style design in the Settings app to display basic hardware details of Windows 11 PCs.
  • It shows all the details like storage, graphics card, memory, and processor information.
  • Microsoft is also bringing this redesigned About page to Windows 10.

Microsoft is pushing out a new update for Windows 11 that makes it easier for users to see details of their PC’s hardware. The company is testing a new About page in the Settings app in the latest Insider beta build. The redesigned page uses a card-like layout to present key information about your computer, making it easier for everyone to understand.

What’s New in the About Page?

The new About page includes basic information about your computer’s hardware but in a friendlier manner. It shows:

  • Processor details (name and top clock speed).
  • Graphics card info.
  • Memory (RAM) size.
  • Storage capacity.

This means you don’t have to look in multiple places like Task Manager or the System Information Tool (msinfo32) to get important hardware information about your Windows 11 PC. All that information is right here in the Settings app.

How to Try It Out

If you want to try the new About page, you will need to join the Windows Insider Beta Channel and install build 22635.4660 or later. The feature is still experimental, so you have to enable it manually using a tool called ViveTool.

Here is how you can enable it:

  • Download and set up ViveTool.
  • Run command: vivetool /enable /id:51784082,54618938.
  • Reboot the computer.
  • If the card-like interface does not appear, run this command: vivetool /enable /id:48433719.

This update is another effort to make Windows 11 more user-friendly. Last year, they added a new home page to the Settings app that included recommended settings, Bluetooth devices, wallpapers, colour mode, and even ads for Microsoft 365. Although many people didn’t like some of the changes, this new About page is getting positive feedback.

The new About page is a small but important step towards making Windows 11 easier to use. Microsoft is helping users better understand their PCs without any hassle by putting hardware information front and center in a clean, card-like design.
